Fernando lived most of his life as a merchant in São Tomé de Negrelos, where he met the love of his life, Mariazinha. His life changed and Fernando died with a broken heart.
[ENG]Using memories and family archives, the director tells the story of her great-uncle Fernando, who lived most of his life as a merchant in São Tomé de Negrelos, Santo Tirso. Uncle Fernando's story and the romanticization of his death is the starting point for an exploration of this theme from memories and personal conceptions about the end of things. I fear the end of things tells stories built entirely from memory. It seeks to establish a social and economic context of São Tomé de Negrelos and Vila das Aves between the 1950s and the 1970s through the documentary narrative of Fernando's life.
[PT]A partir de memórias e de arquivo familiar, conta-se a história de Fernando, tio-avô da realizadora, que viveu a maior parte da sua vida como comerciante em São Tomé de Negrelos, Santo Tirso. A história do tio Fernando e a romantização da sua morte é o ponto de partida para uma exploração desta temática a partir de memórias e conceções pessoais acerca do fim das coisas. Tenho Medo do Fim das Coisas dá a conhecer histórias inteiramente construídas a partir da memória. Procurando estabelecer um contexto social e económico de São Tomé de Negrelos e Vila das Aves entre os anos 50 e os anos 70 através da narrativa documental da vida de Fernando.
